Jesus Christ!!!
I've been sick of it since Tuesday. It's gotten to the point I tune most of it out since it is the same thing over and over again. Sounds like the voice of the teacher in Charlie Brown, blah blah blah, blah blah blah blah. It's just complaining for the sake of complaining. Baggers are stupid parrots. Remember Benghazi, Fast and Furious, the IRS *scandal*, and birthers. All much ado about absolutely nothing. Pretty much the way I see baggers, much ado about nothing.

(28,552 posts)I've heard some good and basically fair reports on NPR (go figure) but the fact is 95% of businessmen and politicians don't know dick about creating a large software system, and 99.9999% of the public at large don't know dick about it.
Truth is, given the constraints in time and dollars, there are few people who could have pulled this rabbit out of the hat. But we didn't even use anything like the best and the brightest, we got the coathanger coders.
Don't you think that the people that screwed this up need to take some responsibility?
Obama has now laid out a timeline. I hope to god that it wasn't pulled out of some idiot's ass because WISHING will not make software systems work.

(13,193 posts)It does show what people really think about the Internet and software though. The ACA is now one and the same with a web site. The HTTP 503 error is now a lead actor in a high stakes political drama. Where is Voltaire when you need him?

(17,055 posts)They could at least make sure to explain that it's a computer software problem not a problem with ACA. Pisses me off!

(10,942 posts)mouth was an enormous lie, that President Obama gave big companies an exemption on company mandates. That is a complete lie, the exemption was given, but it affects something like 1% of the companies in the country. Neither Steve Kornacki or Crystal Ball called the bastard on his lie. At least Crystal Ball made an effort to corner the bastard, but the slimy weasel just mouthed republican talking points. Why does MSNBC bring republican bastards on when the hosts and liberal guests haven't done their homework. Kornacki is behaving like Chris Hayes, both are failing.

It figures this "centrist" DEM who couldn't win an election is now bashing the hell out of Obama from the standpoint of someone who worked for the very company responsible for this complete clusterfuck.
Yeah, Krystal Ball used to work for CGI. Is anyone surprised?

(62,448 posts)In my working days I helped develop and roll out new systems. I was goddamned tired of the snarky remarks back in those days. Of course this is on a grander scale.
Seems like the most ignorant and technically incompetent are the loudest critics. If they don't know what they are talking about, then shut up. Let the coders and testers have some space.
I will say that management always felt systems were easy to code and could be brought online with little problem at a moments notice. They just had to say when they wanted it and there it was.

(502 posts)That said, my husband started a new job earlier this year, open enrollment is this month and it sure would be nice if we could compare the rates. I told him that I'm pretty sure Obamacare will be cheaper and we should just plan on getting that whenever they get the site up and running. I hope I'm not fucking up. He works on getting us signed up at 2 in the morning after he gets off work, a couple nights a week, all month. He's probably put in 10 hours just trying to get quotes.

(5,610 posts)I spoke with my 74 y.o. Mother yesterday. I was complaining about our red state Gov. Bill Haslam. He refuses to expand the Medicaid program in Tn. That means still no insurance for my Brother and Sister. They are disabled, unable to work because of a lack of medical care all of their adult lives. A few surgeries would have put them back into the workforce, years ago.
My Mother (who spends her days watching teevee at a ridiculous sound level) started telling me that the ACA was bad anyway. People are being FORCED to buy crappy insurance they cannot afford. I told her to quit watching Faux "news." She said that it was being reported this way on all networks.
I tried to explain how (especially the Southern red states) the republicans were still sabotaging Obamacare
by refusing to allow coverage for those that need it most. She parroted some ridiculous premiums that people were being forced
to pay (or be fined) and how crappy even those overpriced policies were.
My Mother is for Universal health care and we were not happy when the ACA was "negotiated." We did realize that it may help usher in not for profit health care.
The teevee had her convinced how horrible the ACA is and it had nothing to do with the website.
Oh for the days of THE FAIRNESS DOCTRINE.
I still cannot understand how any real Democrat would not have this vital rule for honesty and open-mindedness re-instated.
