(71,265 posts)I think Christians should be more upset about the commercialization of the holiday than whether they say Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays.

(46,345 posts)Anyone who takes "Christ" out of Christmas in any way is participating on this "War on Christmas."
Most of this "war" however, is in Bill O'Reilly's imagination.

(29,414 posts)I don't know when they start them, but they're up and running right now:
Have your self an indie/alternative holiday season!
Indie/Alternative meets traditional/classic rock'n'roll music all about the holidays. From The Beach Boys and Bob Dylan to Belle & Sebastian and Sufjan Stevens, make your holiday season rock this year. Uncensored, but shouldn't be offensive to anyone but the most uptight haters of rock'n'roll.
Christmas Lounge
Chilled holiday grooves and classic winter lounge tracks. (Kid and Parent safe!)
For fans of Groove Salad, Lush and downtempo/lounge music fans in general, this is the perfect holiday radio. Christmas classics redone in a chilled-out manner make for a stress-free holiday.
Xmas in Frisko
SomaFM's wacky and eclectic holiday mix. Not for the easily offended.
For people who hate traditional holiday music. From the offensive, raunchy and nasty to the silly and childish, a mix of music for Hanukkah, Kwanza, Winter Solstice and of course Christmas. You'll probably get in trouble if you listen out loud at the office, but it might be worth it just to offend your annoying co-workers.
the only NPR station I can get on an actual radio is run by the regional religious cabal and they start that crap on Thanksgiving and keep it up until Jan 1. I am thankful for the Interwebs and my substantial cassette collection since the only other radio station (that I can get on my radio) is moldy oldies and they focus on the same theme for waaay too long as well.

(11,175 posts)My neighborhood has quite a few Indian families, so maybe those lights are for Diwali (Nov. 3 this year).
Please, O Flying Spaghetti Monster, let them be for Diwali.

(86,776 posts)white/clear tiny lights strung up along the ceiling in my cabin... I hate overhead lights unless I'm looking for something... and these make it seem like the wood stove is the light source for the whole place, all two rooms of it. Makes it feel cozy and rustic.

(34,648 posts)I can't wait to say " Happy winter solstice" to some unsuspecting Fox News viewer. It'll make them lose their lunch, I suppose. I wish I could say it to Glenn Beck, and Billo. They would be livid. The tides would stop coming in and out.

It was weird-looking, really. I hate the retail "stretch" of holiday seasons. It's such a turn off.
Next we'll have the Valentine's candy hearts next to the Christimas lights and menorahs.

(28,581 posts)Which they renamed All Saints Day and then called it All Hallows Eve and then called it Halloween and THEN decided it was evil and now call it the Autumn Festival or Harvest Festival.... which sounds strangely Pagan.........

I do.
Hope you feel better, that Nyquil is powerful.
I have some Nyquil sleeping pills, weird and wild dreams come after taking that.

(28,581 posts)I've had the flu all week and knocking myself out with nyquil is the only way to sleep... I get a few hours of wicked deep sleep with crazy dreams, but that's better then none at all
And the goofy thoughts too. I keep hearing my former HPS telling me "Priestess heal thyself" and then in my head my response is "You totally must have never had the flu" ~grins~

It happened very slowly, no one else in the dream thought it was strange but me.
I only take the pills if I can't sleep period.
They knock me out but the dreams are far out there.
What the hell is in that stuff anyway.

(28,581 posts)benedryl does the same thing to me. Once I went into aniphilaxis from an antibiotic, they rushed me to the hospital and shot me up with a ton of benedryl on the way. Apparently I snored like a wildebeest for 8 hours in the ER. SO embarrassing.
