President Obama: " I thought about Malia and Sasha"

President Obama: " I thought about Malia and Sasha"

by TomP

This says much. Barack Obama is a good person, a good father. He said today that he called Sandra Fluke because he was thinking about his own daughters and how he didn't want them to be called sluts or prostitutes for participating in public discourse.

Obama said he phoned Fluke, who was labeled a “slut” by Limbaugh, because he was thinking about his own daughters, and that women like his wife could make up their own minds about how to vote.

“I don’t know what’s in Rush Limbaugh’s heart, so I’m not going to comment on the sincerity of his apology,” Obama said. “What I can comment on is the fact that all decent folks can agree that the remarks that were made don’t have any place in the public discourse.”

He called Fluke, he said, “because I thought about Malia and Sasha, and one of the things I want them to do as they get older is to engage in issues they care about; even ones I may not agree with them on. ... And I don’t want them attacked or called horrible names because they’re being good citizens.”

WaPo

This kind of decency says much.

...this is an OP about Rush Limbaugh's comments. Sandra Fluke was not a suspected terrorist.

Thankfully, we have a full cadre of folks here to explain how we're being alarmingly alarmist with our alarmism, which always calms me right the fuck down.

as most DU'ers are starting to wake up to the consequences of Republican Rule.

While a handful of other rather loud DU'ers see their "Dems are the same as Republicans" canard becoming more and more discredited every day. Hence, Damage Control.

It's willful blindness, cloaked in "It's okay because I trust our guy to do the right thing in blowing citizens to Kingdom Come without due process, presentation of evidence, opportunity to face one's accusers, and a trial in open court conducted under rules of procedure that have served our justice system for more than 200 years."

not saying I would, of course, but I'd try to get my hands around Rush Limbaugh's throat, at least in my fantasies...but, then, I'm an old grandma so whattya gonna do?
