Here is my question: Do we even want Rush Limbaugh off the air?

Don't get me wrong; I'll take great pleasure in seeing him panicking. I also feel horrible for Ms Fluke and George Town students for being insulted over and over by this degenerate piece of trash.
BUT, Rush Limbaugh represents the core of GOP; he speaks for them. Who better to represent GOP and conservatism than this drug abusing, woman hating, loud mouth, ignorant, obnoxious, ignorant piece of work? True, he may be hurtful to some people sometimes; but what better way to personify GOP base than this train-wreck?

I am not sure anymore. Don't you think Rush Limbaugh is terrifying GOP? Listen, as much as I like Bill Maher (and I am not comparing Maher to Limbaugh), I don't want Bill Maher on ABC or CBS. He is THE reason I have HBO, but he turns off the independents (non liberals) if he is exposed to general public.

is that he has hurt his own party, and his own party wants him shut up.

It may be part of the reason all these businesses and stations are dropping him, its because the powers that be in the republican party aren't offering him any support behind the scenes.

The GOP establishment is quietly enjoying that this is happening.

I say let this bellicose bastard continue his ranting. He'll do more to insure Democrats win in November than one billion dollars of advertisements on TV.

If your enemy is busy shooting himself in the foot why stop him?

there are whole radio stations that's whole day is set up to run his show. The other idiots don't pull half the ratings he does. These station lose money now but billionaires prop them up to push the RUSH RW propaganda. Without Rush I think the RW radio media empire would be seriously hurt. People like Rush are a dime a dozen on hate radio, but no one seems to get the national audience of Rush. Bill O for instance bombed out trying national radio.

For now the howlings of the insulting pig-boy and the ravings of a religious fanatic (santorum), only help show moderates what an insane world this might become. At least for the time being their carrings on serve our end. We need calmey ask the undecided if this is the world they wish for their children.
With any luck by November the nation will be so sick and tired of right wing fear, bigotry and hate that most will see behind the curtain.
How many moderate republicns do you think Rush has offended this last week?

6.) Sean Handmedown

the sooner he's gone and the talk radio monopoly is broken we can get back to a real democracy.

Yes. We want that fat fuck OFF the air. You want that hate-spewing neanderthal mouthbreathing misogynist to be allowed to stay ON? All that does is to continue to validate the weasels who listen to them, and give them cover and respectability because he's the biggest thing on the air and he's saying what they're thinking. And he's giving them more negative, deceitful, hateful ideas and then the validation for telling him "megadittos."

What better than to present the opposing army with its idol's head on the ol' metaphorical pike (figuratively speaking that is)? If you want to deal the enemy a meaningful blow, disrupt their communication lines. Make a significant dent in their smooth operations. Put a kink in their chain, or snip a loop or two.

I wanna make sure EVERYBODY sees this thread, 'cause here's HOW to accomplish the above:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/1002374653

How to fight back at the local radio, with insights from a former radio person. As one of those, myself, I can vouch for the good ideas in it. I have personally personally witnessed how effective these strategies can be.

I don't know if the two can be separated. Therefore, he probably needs to get booted.

If he's willing to keep going for lets say the same paycheck as the average salary in the USA , I think it would be perfectly fine to keep him spouting RW talking points and for DU to keep refudiating him.
