Another Rush Limbaugh gaffe? He slams writer as 'authorette,' 'overeducated'

Another Rush Limbaugh gaffe? He slams writer as 'authorette,' 'overeducated'

Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh, fresh from an apology for his slurs against a law student on the subject of contraception, is drawing new fire today for remarks about women.

Forbes.com and other Web sites are reporting that Limbaugh spent the whole first hour of his program today discussing "The American Way of Eating," a new book by Flint-born journalist Tracie McMillan.

He referred to her as an "authorette" and tried to tie her to a trend of "all these young single white women" who are threatening Americans' freedoms.

many Republican white men are scared to death of women. White women now outnumber them. Consider these statistics:

Women in the U.S. spend more than $3.3 trillion annually (Source: Women and Diversity, WOW Facts 2001 – Business Women’s Network)

Women business owners employ 35% more people than all the Fortune 500 companies combined (Source: Women and Diversity, WOW Facts 2001 – Business Women’s Network)

95% of family financial decisions are made by women (Source: Women and Diversity, WOW Facts 2001 – Business Women’s Network)

Women own more than 47% of the stocks (Source: Peter Hart and NASD and the Investment Institute)

Today there are 9.1 million women-owned businesses in the U.S., representing nearly 40% of all businesses (Sources: NFWBO and SBA)

They employ 27.5 million people and generate more than $3.6 trillion in sales (Sources: NFWBO and SBA)

Women are starting new firms at twice the rate of all other businesses (Sources: NFWBO and SBA)

That's why they are attacking birth control and abortion rights - it was those two things that set women free from constant pregnancies and being shackled to child care and housekeeping. It scares the shit out of them. They are desperately trying to marginalize and demean women to appear that they still have all the power.

at the Right.

If these clowns keep at it, it could get kinda crowded over on this side.

Not that that would be a bad thing.

I wouldn't call it a 'gaffe' myself; he planned to say it. I doubt it will do him any damage, though - it's dismissive rather than vilely and sexually insulting. It's the kind of thing he's said for decades.
