Ok we have welfare the women with children, welfare for disabled and senior citizens.

But what about able bodied men who are looking for jobs. There's no real government support for them. In the United Kingdom, there is job seekers allowance. But in the US if you're a first time job hunter, there's no support.

I'm surprised that there is no job seekers allowance equivalent in the US for a long time. Why is that?

If you mean food stamps I think anyone under a certain income qualifies in a lot of states??
Are you considering disability payments from social security welfare ?
Or Medicare as welfare for seniors?
I have heard all this talk before so I am not surprised just never get any answers here

this nation has an incomplete and inferior safety net compared to our peer nations.

(i think you made an error in overstating the support available to the disabled, children, women...they don't have proper welfare programs anymore either).
