We are used to all sorts of critters stopping by to help themselves to bird food. This is the first time we got a Groundhog to stop by on film. We have four more photos. We knew s/he was in the area. S/he came right up after Marta put some bread out this afternoon. On the other side of our back yard fence is Fontenelle Forest.

I was trying to train him to wear a shark costume and ride a rhumba chasing a baby duck. But not much luck with that.

Seriously, groundhogs are incredibly destructive.

There's one in our neighborhood, but I've only seen it once in my yard. It was shelling a peanut, just like its smaller cousins. I hope to see it more often.
