Will we EVER stop with this nonsense? Change the laws on lobbying. Overturn Citizens United.

They are not guilty of sedition and they REALLY aren't guilty of treason. This dead equine has been flogged sufficiently.

shortsighted is the kindest thing to be said for those folks voting yes. and here's the thing I find most troubling: I know that some of those voting yes are smart cookies.

And if you arrest the Koch Brothers, holding to that standard- or whatever it is- who else do you have to arrest? All the teabaggers in the House? Ted Cruz, Mike Lee in the Senate?

What about Governor Walker?

Mike DeWine? The board of the Heritage Foundation?

Scalia and the other wingnut Justices?

Hell, why not just send them via tumbrel to the guillotine? And fuck the Constitution. Fuck trials or a defense. Or hey, how about just lining them up on the edge of a lime filled pit and shooting them in the head by the thousands. because if you believe that the Koch Brothers deserve arrest for sedition and treason, you HAVE to believe that thousands upon thousands are equally guilty.

what the fuck is wrong with you people?

and answer a few questions

If the Koch brothers should be arrested for sedition and/or treason, shouldn't thousands of others who are engaging in the same shit also be arrested?

What precisely (that we know of) have the Koch Brothers done that rises to sedition and/or treason?

what's to stop wingnuts from making the same argument about people on the left- that they're guilty of sedition/treason? (and they have)

Are you serious about this or just kind of goofing or blowing off steam?

If you're serious, do you see as potentially setting a bad precedent?

Near as I know, the House passed several budgets, which funded almost everything except ACA implementation. Why shouldn't Senate Democrats and/or the President be arrested for sedition on the grounds that they refused to pass those budgets?

Here's the relevant chapter of the USC that covers "Treason, sedition, and Subversive Activities". Since we're still theoretically a nation of laws, you have to pick something from that section to charge them with...so make your case, Counsellor.

trash democracy. But as you said, they haven't done anything illegal. I think all this sedition and treason talk is pretty goofy. I don't understand why people would consider that a good plan. Sooner or later they may fuck up royally, then charges can be brought based on the fuck up.

http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/part-I/chapter-115

what do you charge them with? And as is real life, you have to be specific- you can't just say "Seditious Conspiracy" because what they allegedly did has to rise to to actions that rise to the legal definition.

I've read the statutes and there's a reason it won't happen: It has no basis in the law; charging them with sedition/treason- not to mention that logically, if you charged the Koch Brothers, you'd have to charge Antonin Scalia.

In any case, this should be filed under 'f' for frivolous fantasy

I won't bother with the citation since this particular horse has been beat to death already here. If people are too lazy to read the thing, and too ignorant of its historic context to understand why this isn't treason or sedition, any citation would likely be wasted.
