It's as if they are rooting for it to fail. I don't know what the solution is how it will turn out but there is no going back now.
Lots of nations have the individual mandate system and it seems to work fine.

Corporate America have few fears, but one big one is the Federal Gov't itself. It is the only entity with the unlimited resources and power to curb their greed and even take them down piece by piece.
Because despite the money most Democrats get to run for office from these corporations, the two Parties are still very different. The sums that the Democratic Party receives from Corporate America pale in comparison to the money Republicans get. Democrats do have a Party platform Corporate America does not like: Democrats fight for policies that benefit the majority of American people - from the poorest to the wealthiest - as opposed to the policies of the AlwaysWrongRight that fight for and benefit exclusively Corporate America.

IMHO single payer would have worked better.

(15,438 posts)population than we do (35 million as opposed to 350 million). http://www.civilization.ca/cmc/exhibitions/hist/medicare/medic01e.shtml
Were we ready to wait a minimum of thirty years for health care coverage for all Americans in this country?
But yes, single-payer IS the better choice although we can't deny that a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.
And I believe it's a combination of the two: framing the narrative and subtly confirming that a Black president isn't good for the country (for the racists) and "Big Gov't isn't the solution but the problem" narrative for the Corporatists. Either way, it's vitally important for Corporate America to keep the well-oiled propaganda alive of both in order to keep their poor supporters and wealthy supporters on their side and against the Democratic Party. Just my opinion.

(37,364 posts)which would bite the dust. That's a lot of money and advertising dollars. These companies are trying to sabatoge ACA and if anyone claiming to be on the left or identifies as a Dem helps them out rather than contributing to improving the law, then they are not one bit different than the most craven Teabagger to me.

(4,795 posts)If the US were taking into account what other nations were doing, maybe skipping the hundreds of separate, tiered, for profit pools with deductibles and copays thing would of been a good idea

(99,710 posts)There are other nations that have private insurance corporations and a individual mandate that ensures everybody is covered and they seem to be working.

Now nothing.
When the ACA is getting 50,000 signups a day all of this will be forgotten.

(3,182 posts)I signed up yesterday. Got everything done on the site in less than 20 minutes, verification and everything, was enrolled in no time flat.
Now, all I have to do is figure out which one of the plans my doctors are in network on.
All of the Humana sites are crashing when I try to do a Doctor lookup on them, but that's on Humana, not ACA.

(13,186 posts)The news-tainment industry has a general problem. They have bills to pay, so the rule for news is that something incredibly interesting must be going on all the time. Plus, a web site not working is something absolutely anyone can understand and see for themselves.
There is also the "unknown percentage" of people who were "lied to" about being able to keep their plans. That number is going to turn out to be a pittance. And from that number, the few who don't end up happier will be a pittance of a pittance.
But for right now, the media symphony orchestra needs material, so it will just play whatever music is available to play. Right now, it's Three Blind Mice, but it is being played with the same gusto they use for the Ninth.
