Being that it is Bill Maher, I'd like to judge for myself the level of snark in his comment, it could be just satirical.

19. Thank you, I don't have national news, and even so one should link to his topic.

I don't have tv and limited on-line availability per month with mobile cricket, so I try not to just bounce all over, I come here a lot because of the comprehensive discussion rather than offhand remarks with no context.

6. Zero people will drop HBO for what he said.

He stated his opinion. Maher lost his ABC show related to sponsor boycotts so, naturally he's not in favor of this. It's just not that big a deal. If it's not yet time to more on, it will be soon. Limpballs is not going away. The right wing would revolt.

9. Honestly, I hate to say it but I agree with you on that one

I mean I have HBO and my love for the show "True Blood" far outweights my disgust at what Bill Maher says.

Until it is clear what the differences are, I'm pointing that out every time these comparisons are made.

We, the left, won't have anyone even remotely close to Limbaugh ever. Well maybe not ever - at least in my lifetime.

11. Maher has highly personal reasons for saying what he did

I'm not a fan, but I think we need to cut him a little slack on this one.

16. He has two main reasons
Wed Mar 7, 2012, 06:50 PM
Mar 2012

One is his anger over losing 'Politically Incorrect' after 9/11. He identifies with media figures who are pushed off of the air for offending people.

The other is that he has referred to Sarah Palin using sexist language in his stand-up act, so he's particularly vulnerable to sexism as justification for removing a media figure from the air.

who had the courage to speak on the Dixie Chicks behalf?

rush should not have any sponsors left. he's an oaf, a traitor, a fool. bill should spend his energy on good people worth helping.

18. Maher is sensitive about that kind of thing since he lost PI due to advertisers dropping him

Maher said Rush was wrong but I can understand why he won't get on the bandwagon about the advertisers.
