Looks like Houston is electing Annise Parker for the third and last time for mayor.

She is gay.

Houston has a 3 term limit for city offices.

She has over 50 percent of the vote, wasn't even close.

Houston is so liberal no one cares if she is gay.

Yea Annise.

Its that the majority of the liberals are in major urban areas like most around the country. From maps I've recently Dallas, San Antonio, Austin, Houston, El Paso and the rest of the southern border are pretty much blue. The problem is everything else. So yeah its about turning rural areas blue.

So many republicans, especially the younger ones, don't necessarily support the party platform, just the party.

... whether they like a policy or a politician without knowing the R or D affiliation.

That's interesting that the ballots don't show that designation.

Three times now.

I know gay people care.

It is about straight people not caring.

Houston is a great city.

Ted Cruz votes at the early voting location where I used to work.

I saw him, he is slimy to look at.

and am so glad to learn that she has been re-elected.

Sadly, I had to show a photo ID at the registration part, and I was told by an election official that it was to make sure that someone else wasn't using my ID to vote. I challenged him and said have you REALLY ever had anyone try to use another's ID to vote? he started mumbling and then changed the subject by saying that at the airport they could prevent you getting on the plane, etc. mumbled garble-dy Gook. Just spouting off the R's party platform and not thinking for himself. Typical.

I was a precinct judge but stopped for awhile.

I will be a precinct judge again if I have to.

I am glad you spoke up.

The guy never should have spoke to you like that, never.

His job was to run a fair election, not to be a republican asshole.

More of us are going to have to work elections to make sure everything is fair.

Yes, the mayor's race is nonpartisan. You have to do a good job and you get elected. What a concept!

She followed the same route as Kathy Whitmire--City Controller first, then Mayor.

Oh, to keep your Houstonian Card current, you are required to drive like an asshole. It's part of the program.

That's why I did not get my license until I was 21--I knew I'd get killed if I wasn't ready to pay attention.

Houston is a great city.

The new cars will bounce off my old car.

We had fewer freeways (mainly no Beltway) but had insane traffic and crazy drivers.
It's nothing new.

Now we have the additional hazard of the silent electric toy train on Main Street, so people make left turns and get killed, because they don't hear it.
