Why else would Democrats like Dave Marsden and Chap Peterson stay out of the race?

You seem to be forming your opinions based on punditry and not from being on the ground in VA. Of course, your incorrect sentiments will be (and have been) repeated on DU ad nauseam.

If I were a Virginian I would have voted for him over Cuccinelli too, but let's not whitewash him. He's disgusting.

Hopefully, though, Hillary will take cognizance of a declining climate, rigged economy, etc., when/if she makes her run.

McAuliffe was not a stellar example of a Dem candidate. I'm glad he won, but I'm also glad I didn't have to vote for him.
