Abortion bill raises KU Med accreditation concerns

Now this is getting ridiculous. The far right whackos are going to cause a university hospital to lose its accreditation?!?!

The chairman of the House Federal and State Affairs Committee said the committee will move forward on an anti-abortion bill this week, despite concerns from KU Medical Center officials about what it might mean to the institution's accreditation.

Rep. Steve Brunk, R-Wichita, said he is aiming for Thursday or Friday to bring forth the "No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act," which, among other things, prevents any state agency or state employee from participating in an abortion.

A red flag was raised earlier this week about what that would mean for KU Med, whose medical residents are considered state employees. The school received a letter from an accreditation board this weekend stating that though residents may opt out of abortion training for religious or moral reasons, the school must offer the training in order to remain accredited in obstetrics and gynecology.

A statement from KU said that no abortions are currently performed at the University of Kansas Hospital, but OBGYN residents are required to learn the procedure at a private facility unless they opt out.

"many republicans don't care about education, women, the sciences, arts and medicine"

nor do they seem to care, really, about the effect these changes have on them, as long as they can make others suffer.

at the common thread through all of the republican shenanigans, it's all about persecution and suffering.

I'm really at a loss to think of one thing republicans of today stand for wherein the end result isn't about making others suffer. And they take delight in that.

What is really strange is many republicans end up suffering, yet they are so brainwashed they vote them back into office.

that they would actually risk the accreditation of KU Med center to win their stupid moral war.

I really despise these people.

another episode of why people think KS is awful. Every few weeks these fools in office make KS a laughing stock. Same here, I really despise these people.
