NewsHounds - We watch Fox so you don't have to!
Sean Hannity, the guy who palled around with a white supremacist and has a very disturbing record on race, was predictably excited over what he and Fox News touted as an exclusive airing of an unedited Obama race video. Unfortunately for Hannity, Fox and the Breitbart team, the video showing President Obama hugging someone 22 years ago - is so underwhelming that it immediately became a Twitter joke. That big exposé telling you what the mainstream media would not turned out to be old mainstream media news. PBS Frontline aired the whole thing in 2008 as part of an election special. PBS website noted that the video has been posted there and on YouTube ever since.
Nevetheless, Hannity announced that Obamas friends had been keeping the video under lock and key.
Poor Hannity couldnt even get the date of the video right. He said, Were going back to 1991 for this big news (not) about a speech Obama gave at a Harvard protest when he was a law student. PBS says the speech occurred in 1990 and that some reports have incorrectly identified the speech as occurring in 1991." As PBS also noted, Obamas speech defended the actions of Professor Derrick Bell. Bell, the law schools first tenured black professor, had protested Harvards failure to offer tenure to women of color as law school professors.

Hey Hannity, if someone sent you a picture of Obama and Michelle kissing at their wedding
can you make a story out of that?!
Freakin idiot- and you know this will be all over the news for three days anyways because everyone has to compete for the best joke on the air.
Breitbart truly lived up to his legacy- he managed to be so stupid that his IQ became national news. His survivors must be SO proud.

(24,689 posts)People will see this as disingenous, desperate, misleading, politically motivated, and frankly dumb. This will make it even harder for them to make legitimate claims against the President... if they have any.

(31,706 posts)He must have been appoplexic that his nemesis rushbo was getting all the attention, he needed some "bombshell". It's been a while since anyone paid any attention to poor old Sean. Remember, these "folk" operate like barking seals...the noiser they are the more fish they'll attract.
No matter what facts are presented, the wingnuts will come up with their own narrative of how this video proves some nefarious past of the President. Now lets see how this urban legend spins...yet another thing for the great unhinged to chase their tails about.

(96 posts)I saw the whole tape before...without Hannity's "commentary." I wondered why this tape was such an important insight into Pres. obama's soul. It was really a pretty good depiction of a young, articulate college leader.

(59,506 posts)and how they really do see the world through an increasingly distorted carnival mirror.
Watched objectively, the tape really shows nothing that deviates from Obama's books or official biography. The most noteworthy observation that Pundits (as well as many of us) had is that he sounds so completely like who he is today. (Think of how 180 degrees different the 1994 Romney, trying to run to Teddy's left on gay issues, sounds. Obama is genuine, Romney is not.) Obama has the same world view then than he has now. Further, there is nothing radical in what he is saying. It is almost like Hannity equates protesting as something radical and evil - while he speaks of the Constitution and the right to speech ... apparently just for the tea party.
What this really exposes is the extreme bias of the rw. Most people will see two things - a polite, mature, handsome, young man, who already had the political skill to compel a large crowd to listen intently. Nothing in the content or demeanor is remotely scary. They are back to the 2008 problem they had - they saw Obama as scary - and the majority of the country saw him as charming.
They look very silly - as if they were people pointing and shrieking in fear, screaming about a wild animal --- and the animal is a playful puppy, like Bo. Only through the prism of their distorted reality are the Obamas scary or evil. ( This at a time, where even they know that their likely alternative first family actually is what they have long accused far better Democrats of being. )
