http://www.northjersey.com/news/politics/Low_turnout_helped_propel_lopsided_Christie_victory_over_Buono.htmlThis past election cycle concluded with one of the lowest voter turn-outs in the state.
38% total.
Do the math.
If Christie got 60% of the total vote (38%), that means only 22.8% of the registered voters in the state thought enough of him to vote for him.
Less than one-quarter of the voters "elected" Chris Christie to another term.
And less than one-quarter of NJ voters endorsing a candidate doesn't have any significant national implications no matter what the media says otherwise.

People don't vote when they don't care. That can mean more than one thing.

You could just as easily argue that Votefs knew they were going to win big and were happy wth the outcome so they didn't feel the need to vote.
Look, we can disparage Christie's politics all we want. Bottom line is he won and won big.

(46,160 posts)Good News: NJ is stuck with Christie (meaning, no real chance of him becoming president)
Bad News: That means NJ is stuck with Christie.

(10,960 posts)It applies to almost all American elections so trotting it out for one case is pathetic.
Is it an awesome argument when Republicans point out what percentage of the American people voted for Obama or Clinton?
I never found it so.
What % of New Jersey just voted for Cory Booker?
