Rush Limbaugh's Advertisers, March 8

March 08, 2012 2:19 pm ET by Media Matters staff

At least 50 advertisers have reportedly dropped their ads from Rush Limbaugh's radio show in the wake of his misogynistic attacks on Sandra Fluke.

Here are his March 8 advertisers, in the order they appeared on WABC, the flagship station for Limbaugh's show. Audio clips of the ads have been provided to help make advertisers aware of the placement of their ads on the program. According to our coverage:

  • A total of 86 ads aired during WABC's broadcast of The Rush Limbaugh Show today

  • 77 of those ads were public service announcements donated free of charge by the Ad Council

  • Of the nine paid spots that ran, seven were from companies that have said they have taken steps to ensure their ads no longer air during the program

  • WABC's online feed included about 5:33 of dead air when ads would normally have run.

He is too useful to the 1%. His show could bleed money for years and they's still keep him on. You don't really think is 20 million salary is paid for by ads, do you?

to fill that air time. When they do, he'll be off the air and probably heading over to Sirius if they let him out of his contract.

At this point they would probably just put 3 hours of elevator music on and not care.

The important thing to them is how to get out of that contract as cheaply as possible at this point.

But I think a strong case can be made that it is actually a vertically-integrated propaganda distribution system, and thus would be run at a loss for quite a while before the plug was pulled.

If these public service announcement are being made on Rush's show it is a benefit to the common good and not a capitalistic or political use of public air waves. It's better than Rush's sick misogynistic hate speech.

I listened to the first 2 to 3 minutes of Rush's show yesterday and he was scared and lying because he was
saying that he still had plenty of advertisers, that he had 18,000 national advertisers, any glitches in his
show that day might be the result of problems @ the local station's level, several new advertisers wanted
to get on his show but it would take weeks to "work them in," and that many of the sponsors that had dropped
him wanted to come back on board and be on his show again. Behind the bluster you could tell that he was
really scared and was doing his best to keep his ditto heads from knowing that he was in a world of hurt. It
was beautiful. Call me heartless but I will always remember hearing the joy in his voice when the House of
Representatives was impeaching Bill Clinton for a blow job and the right wing was dragging the country
through a sewer just because they wanted to do so so I have zero compassion for Rush right now.

You know if Rep. Issa had just let Ms. Fluke testify or if Limbaugh had done a real apology none of this would be
happening right now but they got caught up in their own hubris of living in their own "right wing worlds" and that
what they used to think as funny when they pissed people off could really become a firestorm that could also leave
them burned. I hope the democrats run a strong women against Rep. Issa this fall because he has a lot to answer
about too.

My guess is that a lot of products made by Koch Industries will start getting spots on Rush ASAP.

Wanted to get back on Limbaugh's show but was rejected by Limbaugh. Now's the time to punish Sleep Train for trying to back-door their way in after publicly announcing their suspension of ads on Limbaugh.

Nothing's worse than being two-faced about it. If you don't like what the person said, then cancel ads. If you want the benefit of his programming, then don't cancel ads, but don't say one thing and do the other.
