What passes for a jobs bill in the House
By Steve Benen
It's hard not to like the name of the bill easily approved by the House today: the "JOBS Act." With high unemployment, the legislation seemingly addresses the nation's most pressing need.
Alas, it really isn't worth getting too excited about.
The bill stands a reasonably good shot in the Senate, and President Obama will sign it if it reaches his desk.
But while the American Jobs Act was a sweeping economic measure, intended to create over 1 million jobs in 2012, the House's JOBS (Jumpstart Our Business Startups) Act is a modest bill that's only expected to help around the margins.
In fact, to be more precise, it's six modest bills, four of which have already passed, packaged together to give the appearance of a more substantial piece of legislation. The provisions range from addressing the number of shareholders allowed to invest in community banks to thresholds for SEC registration to shareholder registration requirements.

Alas, it really isn't worth getting too excited about.
The House Thursday afternoon overwhelmingly approved legislation aimed at easing the rules for capital formation for small companies, which Republicans hailed as a major job-creation bill but Democrats said is just a minor fix for the economy.
Members approved the Jumpstart Our Business Startups (JOBS) act in a 390-23 vote that saw 158 Democrats join every voting Republican in support of the bill. All "no" votes were Democrats.

Now here is Boehner on today's jobs report:
Speaker John Boehner issued the following release on the February jobs numbers, which showed the economy adding 227,000 jobs:

Todays report provides some encouragement for millions of families and small businesses who continue to struggle in this economy, but unemployment remains far too high. It is a testament to the hard work and entrepreneurship of the American people that they are creating any jobs in the midst of the onslaught of anti-business policies coming from this administration.
Three years of stimulus spending, tax hikes, and excessive government regulations have left us with unemployment that has remained above eight percent for 37 consecutive months, and Americans are increasingly worried about the amount of debt owed to countries like China. Meanwhile, gas prices have nearly doubled as the Obama administration has rejected new energy production, blocked and lobbied against projects like the Keystone XL pipeline, and promoted policies that would drive prices up even further.
Republicans have a plan for jobs that reduces spending, reforms the tax code, stops excessive regulations on small businesses like ObamaCare that are making it harder to hire new workers, and expands American energy production. And just yesterday, the House passed the bipartisan JOBS Act. Senate Democrats should take immediate action on the JOBS Act, and the rest of our jobs plan, so we can stop government policies that are adding to our debt, raising gas prices, and preventing robust private-sector job growth.

"So wait, six months before an election they FINALLY decided to get out of the uteri.....of American women and into the "jobs" creation business??? "
They own the assault on women's rights, and they're only pretending to address job creation. I mean, look at the bill:
The provisions range from addressing the number of shareholders allowed to invest in community banks to thresholds for SEC registration to shareholder registration requirements.
Oh, I should add, I love Pelosi's sense of humor.

We added 227,000 jobs in February, and that proves the Obama Administration is "anti-business"?
I suppose those droplets of water falling rapidly from the clouds outside proves that it isn't raining here today.
