"An American Airlines flight moments from take-off at DFW was sent back to the gate this morning after a flight attendant began ranting over the PA system about the plane crashing and eventually had to be restrained by passengers and flight attendants, according to two passengers on the flight.
"Flight 2332, scheduled to take off for Chicago at 8:25 a.m., was back at the gate by 9:15 as police escorted the flight attendant, kicking and screaming, to one of the several police cars that surround the plane on the tarmac, passengers say.
"According to two passengers, the flight was taxiing toward take-off this morning when the flight attendant came over the PA.
"We are not taking off," she said, according to the passengers. "We're having technical difficulties. We are heading back to the gate."
"Another flight attendant came on and assured the passengers: Yes, actually, we are taking off, so buckle up. But the flight attendant up front wouldn't let up. She kept going on about technical difficulties and plane crashes, the passengers say."
"Captain," she said. "I am not responsible for crashing this plane."

"The flight attendant "came on the PA system ranting about AA bankruptcy and then telling them the plane was going to crash," said the sister of one woman on the plane.
"She was addressing the captain, telling him not to take off, that it would not be her responsibility when the plane crashes and that it was going to crash. Then she was tackled by first-class passengers, who threw her against the wall."

(28,498 posts)Imagine going through TSA pornoscanners and groping only to have this happen. I think I'd deplane, head to the nearest car rental desk, and drive to the nearest state/national park...

(37,540 posts)it was an early morning into Boston, due to delays...one stewardess must have been drinking in the galley...by the time we were an hour out of Boston, she was on the PA cracking jokes, then rambling on incoherently. 2 of the other stewardesses finally escorted her to the back of the plane and pretty much kept her incommunicado. As we got up to exit the plane, I saw her sleeping peacefully. I always wondered how that turned out for her.

(5,420 posts)with the plane due to shortages of funds or something. Repairs not being made or being made in a shoddy manner. Maybe they decided to fly anyway and she is actually a hero for stopping that flight and bringing attention to a dangerous situation.
This sounds just like what I would do if I were a flight attendant privy to info that I thought put everyone in extreme danger. I could not, would not, let that plane fly.
Could it be something like that? I did not click on the link for the rest of the story. Can anyone fill me in on what else it says?

(5,420 posts)I'm sure she would have gotten some kind of clue about it. It seems more plausible than she was just off her meds.

Hey, but then neither was Cassandra, who ended up dead...but RIGHT!

(5,420 posts)then she would have had no other way to stop it but to start screaming. If she did know there was a potential deadly problem, how could she not start kicking and screaming to stop them?
I think I would too.
Of course it is possible that she was seeing the gremlin on the outside of the plane, but maybe she knew they had rigged a repair due to funds rather than a safe repair.

Hope that flight attendant gets the help she needs, and the passengers recover from their scare.
