Hey - Was Anyone Here On DU At The Chicago Bears Game Yesterday?......

I was wondering how you thought they handled things at Soldier Field. The evacuation down to the bowels of the stadium seem a bit problematic for the people in the upper, upper decks. I guess the beer was flowing and many people got drunk in the interim. Bathrooms were crowded and people just relieved themselves anywhere. I heard that they ultimately had to stop selling beer.

I just thought with the warnings that they were given - they should either have started the game around 3pm after the weather passes (this was predictable) or they should have just cancelled the game. I believe the NFL and the Bears organization deferred to making money versus the safety of their fans. Can't have the Sunday evening programming on the networks all screwed up. (sarcasm)

If this weather system (the tornado's or even higher than normal winds) made it all the way to the city proper - things could have been disastrous at Soldier Field. I glad it wasn't worse than it was - but I still think that they shouldn't have put 63,000 people in harms way like they did.

Just curious if anyone was at the game and if you could give us a firsthand account.
