I actually read in the article that to deal with the homeless problem they are attempting to allocate $100k to fly them anywhere they want to go. One way of course. WTF?

I have a friend who retired to Hawaii and volunteers in a meal program for the homeless. He says that all the homeless people he encounters are what Islanders call "local," i.e. from Hawaii.

When I was there for a conference last summer, I saw a lot of homeless people on the street that runs along the beach at Waikiki, and nearly all of them appeared to be either Asian or Polynesian, which would make sense, given the demographics of Hawaii. A population of homeless people shipped out from the mainland would be predominantly white and African-American.

...so I won't say anything.
