The Republicans scare me.

I was taught in grade school that they were the ones who where fiscally conservative and progressively for equal rights... thirty years ago they flipped the script and went with the whole Christian Coalition, Anti-Choice, and Racism. It was subtle at first and most of the grade school history books missed it. But damn...

Electing the First Black President has made these people absolutely mad. And for some bizarre reason they seem to be taking it out on women. WTF!?

I really am afraid for women today...

I hope women get together, organize, get out the vote, and beat the piss out of republicans.

This man will vote for the freedom of women too.

Well said Arhsub, this image is a simple reality, reminding all who see it of the nightmare women once faced and still face in our nations' struggle to reach equality for all of our citizens. Hang out here in the DU and you will see much more than powerful imagery.

He said that him and his wife may stop voting because all politicians are no good.

I asked him a few questions about and it turns out that he wasn't that informed about much of anything to do with politics. I asked what news he watched most...

Faux News and CNN.

He doesn't seem to be terribly indoctrinated yet (he says that they've voted for both Dems and Rethugs) and is smart with a reasonably open mind. He's 38.

I hope I'm not to late.

Unfortunately there aren't to many sources that aren't corrupted by the rights big money and what's out there for the left is few and far between and not very vocal. I mean as in getting in their face and calling them out when they lie.

But I have some hope for him because he does seem to listen to me. It's been that way since Dad passed away in 1995. It might be that I'm 20 years older.

So maybe there's hope.

When I was in high school, abortion was still illegal (at least here). One of my classmates died trying to use a coat hanger to give herself an abortion. She died alone in a bathroom. I will never forget that. Her desperation must have been great.

Abortion will never stop. It will just go underground if we don't fight. And that will bring back desperate girls and unsanitary back alley clinics.

I finished my second reading of Cider House Rules a week or so ago. I couldn't help but wonder how anyone can read that and not have compassion for women without a safe place to go for an abortion if they think it necessary.

Every single one that I can vote in. Every time. Because these tealiban bastards fill up the little offices first, like Board of Ed and City Council. And they can do a lot of damage in those local offices.

So I NEVER miss ANY election. NEVER!

Thu Nov 21, 2013, 04:33 AM

What sucks the most is not having the option to choose what will impact your life or that of your impending unborn child. There are so many factors and instances to be considered that cannot be addressed or simply set aside by broad government decisions. After all, the governors and legislators that support these sweeping bans on abortion are all too often behind cuts to government funded pre-natal care, food stamps, pre-school education, etc.

Go figure. Go vote these assholes out of office.
