A**hole of the Day on Nov. 13, 2013...

Thought that there is a limit to Sarah Palin's ignorance? Think again...

Sarah Palin is certainly no stranger to controversy - it seems the woman lives to put her foot in her mouth. Not surprisingly, she’s gone and done it again. First, she compared the national debt to slavery, for which she earned an Asshole of the Day nomination.

African-Americans, along with people who possess common sense and a sense of decency were, understandably, upset with the comparison. An interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper provided Palin with the perfect opportunity to clarify her statements. But Palin couldn’t - or wouldn’t - do so. Instead, she suggested that perhaps black people simply couldn’t comprehend her definition of the word ‘slavery’.

She said:

"I’m sure if we open up the dictionary, we could prove that with semantics that are various, we can prove that there is a definition of slavery that absolutely fits the bill there, when I’m talking about a bankrupt country that will owe somebody something down the line if we don’t change things that is, we will be shackled. We will be enslaved to those who we owe."

Not sure which dictionary Palin is using, because the one in the Asshole of the Day offices defines slavery as:
1.The state of one bound in servitude as the property of a slaveholder or household.
2.The practice of owning slaves.
3.A mode of production in which slaves constitute the principal work force.
4.The condition of being subject or addicted to a specified influence.
5.A condition of hard work and subjection.

Yeah, it sucks that the U.S. has an insane amount of national debt. But, unless Palin knows something about the international loans America has taken out that the rest of us don’t, the U.S. won’t belong to another country because of our debt. No one is going to come and chain America, pack her up like cargo and ship her off to parts unknown. No one is going to deny America’s basic rights and force her work for free so that their nation can experience economic growth at an unprecedented rate. America may have a lot of debt, but that debt can be paid. Slaves, true slaves, didn’t have that kind light at the end of their tunnels.

Look, we get that Palin was trying to make an analogy. And, on some level we see where she was trying to go with her original statement. But, she fell flat. When asked to clarify, she blamed black people and liberals for not truly understanding slavery and for not knowing all of the definitions of the word.

Palin is the one who doesn’t understand the definition of slavery. She could have easily acknowledged her error in word choice and moved on. But she didn’t. Palin decided to place blame and, in essence, downplayed a horrible time in history. And, for that, she is Asshole of the Day.

It is Sarah Palin’s 2nd time being named Asshole of the Day. Her previous win was for pretending it was some awful thing that Obama had someone hold an umbrella for him, even though there’s ample evidence she has done the same.

Evidently you haven't been paying attention.

There's no point in blaming it on any one sector of those who may be
unfortunate enough to be present when you open your silly pie hole.
