Wild finish to filings at Montgomery County Republican Party headquarters
Staff Report Houston Community Newspapers

A few last-minute filings for Montgomery County elected positions created some interesting situations at Republican Party headquarters as the 7 p.m. time to draw for ballot positions neared.

Two attorneys filed to run against District Attorney Brett Ligon. And, they both represent a Binnion regarding charges of aggravated perjury stemming from Porter Fire Chief Jody Binnion’s DWI arrest last November.

Gilbert Garcia, who represents Chief Binnion, and Tracy Pullan, who represents Binnion’s wife Rachel, filed for the DA’s race Friday.

The Binnions allegedly lied to a Montgomery County grand jury regarding the people with their party while they were at a bar prior to Chief Binnion’s arrest for allegedly driving drunk Nov. 4.
