So, Democrats 'trapped' republicans into revealing their inner bigotry

That's the theme this weekend from some conservatives (Hannity and others) who are arguing that they were set up by Democrats and media sympathizers into making their outrageous and ignorant remarks -- and tricked them into taking political positions which are so abhorrent and damaging to the majority of the nation's women.

Kinda funny . . .and sad, that they believe they can turn that majority of women against their own selves by persuading them to vote republican; to vote against their own interests as these republican candidates fall over themselves to promote and support each and every denigrating proposal and pronouncement meant as red meat for their rabid, regressive republican base.

Yep, we 'trapped' and tricked them, all right. It didn't take much effort, though. It's not as if we're the ones writing their dialogue or transcribing their regressive political positions for them. All we've had to do is let them talk and make certain voters hear them; loud and clear.

The republican candidates have clearly jumped the shark on women's issues. Now, all they can do is defensively scold those tricky Democrats for making them say publicly what conservatives have always felt comfortable in asserting in their more private moments of bonding with their ilk.

We set them up good. It's amazing how simple it was. All we had to do was let them talk . . . and women (and America) listened. Ingenious.

. . . there aren't many who are going to willingly concede ground when confronted. Interesting to see that all it's taken to rouse a significant progressive opposition in this election season was for the right-wing to make their regressive arguments. I hope they bring it all out in the open . . . here's a party which thinks policies like its anti-choice position are actually pro-women.

Ever. They blame it on someone else, and if they are completely backed against the wall and can't blame it on someone else, then they pull out the "so-and-so did it too!" as though that childish argument shields them from criticism.

They screwed up. Rush screwed up and refused to actually apologize - what he offered was not an apology. Republicans don't ever apologize when they screw up - and they have screwed up monumentally with all of these anti-women bills and attacks - and they are going to feel the wrath at the polls.

I'm not just talking about the Presidential race, either. I think they are going to suffer some major blows in local and state elections because they ran on jobs and the economy, then turned around and did nothing but pursue union busting, abortion and every socially conservative cause imaginable while doing nothing about jobs and the economy.

Even if they start chiming in about the economy at this point, you can't trust them because they lied about it in 2010. They also have another huge problem - the vast majority of Americans do NOT want war with Iran. That also hurts them because to cater to their base, Republicans have to be warmongers.

Finally, they have a massive enthusiasm gap which translates to Republicans not even bothering to show up to vote because they can't stand whomever the nominee is, or worse, they vote for President Obama. I've heard more than one person lately that surprised me by saying they would likely vote for Obama if "____" were the nominee. Romney is highly polarizing in the South - people literally say they will stay home or vote for Obama before voting for him. Santorum is that polarizing with independents and people that have a grain of sense.

And Newt... Newt's got his supporters in the South, but he's got more issues than TV Guide, and more baggage than LAX.

"Kinda funny . . .and sad, that they believe they can turn that majority of women against their own selves by persuading them to vote republican."

It seems to work quite well for them. Read "What About Kansas", it is simple for us to state the obvious but it is totally lost on the general voting public.

This has totally blown up in their faces. Combined with a lack of enthusiasm for any of the potential nominees, Republicans are going to have a hard row to hoe in the coming election.

Even in extremely conservative Mississippi, women made SURE to go to the polls and vote against the "personhood for everything but women" bill.

Conservatives, and certainly Rush Limbaugh, have completely misread the political climate. The majority of Americans aren't interested in socially conservative causes, and the ones that affect women's health care are going to bomb with the vast majority of women that they affect (and the men who care about them).

We are interested in jobs and the economy. Since the economy is improving, and there are more jobs, Republicans are grasping at straws to be relevant.

This time, I believe they have grabbed the straw that broke the camel's back.

And why did we set the trap? Because the Republicans have been acting like fucking vermin and keep trying to devour the grain store!
