Under siege

Make no mistake about it. The vast majority of us are under full scale attack from an alliance of those driven by greed, and those wallowing in ignorance.

They control the media which enables them to control the message. They control just enough of the government to bring progress to a halt. They control the judiciary and are blocking all appointments of progressive judges. And in too many states, they control the levers of power which they are using to destroy everything we believe in.

They are an organized minority with a well-defined agenda, and they’re winning far too many battles. Their goal is to undo all the civilized advancements of the past two centuries.

We are at a crossroad. If they manage to steal this year’s presidential election and gain control of the both houses of congress, we will be well along the road to a long, dark era.

So what are we going to do about it? OWS? It’s a start, but it’s not enough (yet). A second Civil War? They own the police and the military. In addition to which, there are no defined geographical boundaries to define “Us” from “Them.”

I’ve painted a bleak picture here, yet I have hope. The agenda of those oppressing us has a cancerous core. And it might end up destroying their reckless, ruthless crusade of greed and ignorance. One can only hope.

But in more concrete terms, it’s up to each of us to do everything possible to help the Democrats win full control of the congress and retain the presidency. I have no illusions that this would bring about some kind of utopia. But it beats the alternative.
