(46,585 posts)It's commissioned campaign material, a protracted campaign commercial so to speak.

(46,585 posts)The problem is that it's not a documentary either in intent or practice, and the expectation as expressed by you, Cenk, and Greenwald that it should be what amounts to 'fair and balanced' is absurd since it is in essence a campaign commercial. Why would anyone expect a rah-rah campaign piece commissioned by the president's campaign to include his perceived failures? The labeling of this just doesn't make sense.

(23,864 posts)...documentary.
But if Glenn Greenwald, Cenk Uygur or I or anyone else refer to it as a documentary there's something wrong or unfair with that?
That doesn't make sense.

(376 posts)It's a documentary that reminds the people of the accomplishments that this administration has done. Just 4 short years ago, this country was on the brink of a financial devastation. It would make whats going on in Greece look like nothing. People, I included, were out of work. I worked for an auto supplier company for 19 yrs and they filed for bankruptcy in 2009. I am employed now writing software for the healthcare industry; Thanks in part to the Affordable Healthcare Act. There were a lot of scared people out there. People forget all the accomplishments but they remember all the bad things that happened. I think it is a great idea to show this documentary because the Kock brothers will show their own documentary. Brietbart is doing their false documentary. So what is the big deal? Oh I know, because he didn't mention that he didn't fight for single payer right? Or that he didn't legalize marijuana? Maybe its the fact that he didnt close Guantanamo Bay? Oh wait. He did sign an order to close it but the congress didnt fund the closure. Ok scratch that one. Oh I know, he killed an American traitor who joined the enemy, who was connected to the Ft. Hood shooting a couple of years ago who had a chance to turn himself in but didnt so the military killed him with a drone. Thats gotta be it. I understand Cenk is not very happy with this President. Its very obvious he is not happy and he has that right to voice that. But President Obama cant please everyone. We should judge on the state of where we were to where we are now. But who can we look to, to continue to the road of recovery? We need to excite the progressive to give this President the congress that will help him do greater things. I shutter to think what would happen if any of these republican clowns get elected. You said that this President is taking away our rights? Well say goodbye to womens rights, civil rights, and environmental regulations if he loses. And if you think that the Wall Street fat cats got off easy now, just see what will happen under the Romney Administration.

(31,011 posts)I remember him saying this on Bill Maher.
I would ask the director if he made this only on his discretion or did the Obama campaign have a strong say in the material. That's how I would determine if this was a documentary or not.

(23,864 posts)"Well, I'll let the campaign tell you that. I took a pay cut to make this."
So calling it a documentary is necessarily going to raise eyebrows.
You can watch that interview below. Piers Morgan of CNN is coming off like a dick but the director of the "documentary" is so clearly a...comes off like a...Hrm. Maybe you should watch it yourself and see what I mean:

(376 posts)This President has done an amazing job with what he was dealt with. Do I agree with everything the President has Done? No, but I am happy with the results. Cenk is entitle to his opinion but he won't shape mine with it. I will never watch TYT on Current, but I will support the other shows.
