Santorum to Newsmax: I'd Consider Gingrich for VP

Saying he'd look for a "strong and principled conservative" as a running mate should he win the Republican presidential nomination, former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum tells Newsmax that he certainly would consider rival Newt Gingrich for that vital role.

When asked if he would consider the former House Speaker as number two on his ticket, Santorum said Gingrich had been "tested" by the bruising GOP race and that makes him an attractive vice presidential candidate.

President Santorum, with VP Gingrich and Speaker Louie Gohmert (Boehner's days are numbered) behind him.

He'd need to hire a food taster and someone to cover his back 24/7.

Santorum could deliver the South in a contest with Obama.

Come to think of it, he probably wouldn't need Newt or Santorum for that. The South will vote for anyone but Obama.

The trouble right now with voter flip flop is this- Obama promised results and so far hasn't been able to deliver. I believe that's because he has a Gopper Congress fighting everything he tries to do tooth and claw. So now, after just four years and Obama hasn't fixed eight years of Dublya's royal fuck-ups and voters want to turn right back over to the Gopps. You have to LEAVE a bandage in place long enough for it to fix anything. Tear it right back off and the sore just festers. It will take longer than four years of Democracy to fix eight epic years of having the GOP drop load after load of runny shit on us. It may well take decades....the problem won't be solved by flip-flopping back and forth.

Someone has not been paying attention.

This was my standard response to these types of posts. It is outdated now but still is valid, as far as it goes. I don't see any reason to update it at this point since President Obama has done a stellar job and everyone paying attention knows it.

Two great choices for Supreme Court.

The Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act

The Matthew Shepard Hates Crimes Prevention Act (which they said could not be done)

Children's Health Insurance

Tobacco Regulation

Credit Card Reform

Student Loan Reform

The Stimulus (including the largest tax cut ever, the largest investment in clean energy ever, the single largest investment in education in our country ever)

Health Reform

Wall Street Reform

The New G.I. Bill

The Food Safety Modernization Act (the most expansive food reform bill since the 1930s)

The Don't Ask Don't Tell Repeal

The New Start Treaty (even when the (R)s said he would never be able to get it passed)

Locking up over half the loose nuclear material in the world in less than half of his first term, something most (R)s thought impossible.

Most of that list is from The Rachel Maddow Show and is included in this clip
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26315908/#4077 ...

In that clip she also estimates that ~85% of what President Obama said he wanted to accomplish in his first term had been accomplished in the first half of his first term.

I would consider forgetting about whom I would consider for V.P. That presupposes that you have some kind of astronomically unlikely chance at getting into the White House in the first place!

He can't say that Gingrich can't be president, in one breath then in next say he would want him as VP.

I'd give him six months, tops, before a terrible accident made Newt our first amphibian president.
