Meg Whitman ran for Gov of Calif as Repub.

But if HP took this job, I'd bet she'll push for the success of the site.

One problem is the site has to interface with many govt computer systems, on many architectures from many eras. Even a great web site can be sunk by "weak-link" supporting systems not under HP's control.

I wish them luck. Anything to make ACA a success.

HP is not taking over the development and fixing of HealthCare.gov, merely hosting it on their servers. Much simpler task.

Recall that HP acquired EDS in 2008 to bulk up its professional services business, which was previously quite marginal.

HP to Acquire EDS for $13.9 Billion

The transaction is expected to close in the second half of calendar year 2008 and to more than double HP's services revenue, which amounted to $16.6 billion in fiscal 2007. The companies' collective services businesses, as of the end of each company's 2007 fiscal year, had annual revenues of more than $38 billion and 210,000 employees, doing business in more than 80 countries.
