And how did I encounter this disgusting remark? On Tuesday I was listening to NPR "Morning Edition" on KQED 88.5. Then came a traffic/weather break so I flipped to the AM dial and whatdya know? The first station on the AM (KSFO 560, local hate speech station) had its morning host Brian Sussman talking trash about Sandra Fluke, so it's pretty obvious that Sussman agrees with Limbaugh. (KSFO was the San Francisco affiliate of Limbaugh from the '90s to 2011. Limbaugh moved to KKSF 910 at the beginning of this year.)
Here's a Young Turks video about the Limbaugh comments:
Audio of the segment in question begins at 18:30 here: http://vaca.bayradio.com/podcasts/sussman030612_7am.mp3
Sussman began criticizing Obama for not rejecting Bill Maher's donation because of Maher's harsh rhetoric towards conservative women. Then, stupidest of all (19:53), he didn't like how Obama found time to call Sandra Fluke to express support despite all the problems in the nation and world. Oh, Sussman called Fluke a "Georgetown Lawsuit student". Really, he had to insert the "suit".
He then took a caller (20:40) who said "Bill Clinton won't stop calling" Fluke and doing an impression of Clinton offering Fluke an internship. Yep, that's right wing humor for you right there. The "number one pastime is having sex" remark is at 21:15.
Do you think it's worth having advertisers leave the KSFO morning show over these remarks? This MP3 file is complete with the commercial breaks. So I guess we should start picking up phones.
The ignorance and misogyny here is just appalling. Does Sussman seriously want to sink that stupidly in criticizing Obama without substance or is he just unaware of Obama face-to-face convo with the president of Israel (the day before this putrid show and certainly LONGER than Obama's phone call to Fluke) or Obama speaking at AIPAC on Sunday 3/4? And I wonder if any of the misogynistic slut shamers like Sussman can quote ANYWHERE in Fluke's testimony that explicitly and undoubtedly talked about sex? Or do they understand the non contraceptive uses of birth control?
But hey, what else do you expect from someone who also is a global warming denier? (Audio of that interview with Thom Hartmann is at 1 hr 6 mins at this link.)

(14,177 posts)I wish I could say I am done reading and talking about this. But, I am going to avoid listening to all the ME TOO BOTS that just want to get the same kind of attention Rush is getting. I don't know why they want to make people angry and get them calling their bosses and getting people to call their sponsors to remove ads from their shows. I don't get it, but if that is what they want I am sure we can arrange it.

(32,047 posts)Given that KSFO has been an all-conservative station since the mid-90s, there's hardly a chance that any advertisers would want to leave KSFO since the companies profit off listeners anyway. And KSFO's management, usually sympathetic to the views of its hosts like Sussman, Hannity, Levin, etc. wouldn't be offended. So the commonly good thing to do when anyone in the media pulls off this offensive BS is to shame them and do anything to hold them accountable like getting advertisers to leave.

(57,936 posts)slandering Ms. Fluke. He lies about what she said and then proceeds to slander her about her moral conduct BASED ON LIES OF HIS OWN FABRICATION.
And now all the right-wingers are picking up on this.
Limbaugh should be fined for what he did. After all, networks are fined if some woman displays her breast even inadvertently on TV. What Limbaugh did was far more obscene that a display of a woman's breast.

(4,554 posts)at Georgetown, or any other campus, the title of your post suggests that we're getting the evidence of Georgetown's reputation being harmed. I hope Fluke and/or Georgetown take legal action against Rush. This local show is talking about it only because he did.
