These people deserve no respect and no mourning. The couple was going through a divorce recently and their children were already fighting over the spoils of that.

and while I, too, am guilty of doing a little dancing over the news today, I think that what this man represented and undertook as his life's work is what most people are disgusted by and condemning. The TBN should be labeled a criminal enterprise, as far as I'm concerned.

I'm sorry for being crass about a man's death, but I cannot mourn him, nor feel sympathy for those who loved him.

People like that don't usually have "people who loved them" other than perhaps parents, grandparents and the occasional sibling. They have sycophants, business partners, fellow-travelers, and "worshippers" who they prey on. People who "loved" them for the money or the power that followed them. Most of them aren't even really loved - or even really liked - by their own spouses and children. Who can trust a con man who will happily tell comforting stories to coax the last dime from the lonely or frightened, leaving them naked and helpless out in the cold and dark - and then tell his victims it's their own fault for not "trusting" or believing him enough?

The only "sorrow" that tends to truly follow the death of a person like that is the sorrow of those who are going to fight over who gets what crumbs of his empire now that he's no longer there to mouth promises and control the cash flow.

but his short clip toward the end of this video, showing the pink-haired woman on tv asking for people to send in their grocery money, leaves me absolutely red with outrage.

My elderly neighbour lady here gave faithfully every week to a ministry like this as her house literally was falling down around her. She was living on the minimum Old Age Security amount, which isn't much ... and when we helped to clean out her house after she moved into a nursing home in another town, it looked like she'd been living on very little food, and basically owned nothing but a few pieces of tattered and wobbly furniture and of course, her beloved tv. I was running the post office at the time and remember how she'd walk downtown even in the worst weather to get that cheque in. I despise these shucksters. Seeing these pictures of their obscene wealth is nauseating.

I had to watch this crap when I was a kid and every other night he would go on air and defend the South African government saying there was no apartheid. He was cozy with the right wingers in El Salvador as well.
