I'll never forget my ride home on the New York State Thruway the day before Thanksgiving during my first year of college. It was also the first day of hunting season, and there were dozens of cars with dead deer on their roofs!

Years ago when we lived in Alaska, the highway dept. had trucks that would go out a remove the road killed moose. The meat would be used to feed the prisoners in jail.

especially if its neck was broken. It looks small, a larger deer would be a handful, they can weigh up to 200 pounds.

This one looks like a yearling.

They probably needed the meat anyway----Because

Wisconsin's repuke governor is a tea party type who hates the poor anyway

He is a evil POS who would love to eliminate food share and the minimum wage, this they believe will spur the lazy to work for food!!

And that will help the economy to improve since business taxes going down will create jobs.

why trash good meat with all that chemical poison? If you're going to eat wild animals, you probably don't need that crap to ruin it with.

I know it's joke but the social conditions that are on display in the photo aren't. Besides, wild meat usually taste better without whatever is in that box of additives.

I needed a laugh. That was better that what happened to me last night coming back to NJ from PA.

I'm on I-78 going East. I'm on the middle lane, when all of a sudden, someone up ahead decides to make a LEFT HAND TURN in the middle of the hwy. She went from the right lane onto the left lane as if she was crossing a street. I hit the break when I saw something going sideways (it was pretty dark). I hit the breaks, but still hit the back portion of her car. She kept going. I was able to see that it was an elderly lady and got a partial # of her plate. I called 911 and the state troopers said that they'll probably never find her. I stayed home from work today and took the car to be fixed. It's going to cost me $900. The old lady is a menace to herself and others. I hope that someone gets her off the roads. If I had not been able to veer right and had completely hit her broadside, I could have killed her (it was the driver's side of the car). I've seen some strange behavior on the road in my lifetime, but a person making a full turn on a hwy. is something I had never seen before.

over the weekend in central Wisconsin, plus another dozen adults deer. Rutting season, ya know.

There's not much meat on it, maybe thirty pounds if she uses every bit, including the sausage.

Good corn-fed meat though.

If they respond to a car accident involving a deer strike with a dead deer on the side of the road, they pull out the list and call up the next name on it to see if they want the animal.

It's entirely free, but you have to be willing to come out at whatever hour of the night it might be, take the entire animal, and gut it out yourself on your property.

I have a few coworkers who get a lot of free venison this way.
