Happy ending??!?!?!?

I already shared this with a couple of other members, but I had a call this last Friday!

I have been put on a housing list and will be in an apartment by Jan 29th at the latest! And through the program I go for help with my PTSD treatment, I will be working in a special job program. It is to help restart my resume and we can watch my stress levels and the way my meds are helping with it! I will be working in a coffee shop!!!! yeah!!!!!!

He lives in California so it's an apartment complex. I was looking at places back east and noticed they don't even HAVE these huge apartment complexes that often take up a whole city block and house more people than some towns back east. The HUD vouchers are for actual HOUSES.

BTW: In places like Cleveland you can still get a house for 20k.

I have it too.

Make sure you take your meds and get some physical activity. And absolutely take it one day at a time.

I'm a firm believer in these words. "Take Care of Your Self So You Can Take Care of Others."

I'm so happy for you I could burst!

53. Allow a week or two for the medication to start working. I too suffer from PTSD.
Mon Dec 2, 2013, 04:34 PM
Dec 2013

It's much too easy to get triggered. Just about anything can knock you out of the here and now and back into a life and death situation. The medication and followups at the VA has helped.

It isn't always easy to nail down what causes a particular case of PTSD. An IED, a bloody battle, rape, or like the François Truffaut movie "400 blows" where you suffer a life of humiliation and violence, can cause PTSD.

I'm glad you are getting help.

We will have a DU housewarming party when you start posting from your new digs.

Fill yourself with gratitude, but watch amping out on the caffeine.

I hope you'll be able to listen to some tunes in your new home.

Just think - walk in, close the door, and you're . . . HOME!

What a beautiful word that is, isn't it?

.
.
.

I can well relate as up to 9 months ago I had been living in a trailer with no hook-ups for 6 years, with marginal income.

Unexpected windfall allowed me to buy my FIRST home, and provide modest income -

It's a "culture shock" (a good one) for sure.

ENJOY IT ALL TO HECK -

oh

by the way
