I seem to more often than not be late to the party. What's the reason for all the porn threads?

THIS THREAD IS NOT ABOUT PORN AND IS NOT INTENDED TO SUPPORT ANY SIDE OF THE MANY ARGUMENTS FOR AND AGAINST THIS AND/OR THAT.

Neither is this a meta thread.

I have managed to stay unengaged in any of the controversy. My question comes from wanting to know if there is an actual event that caused all these heated threads to crop up in the last week or three.

it all started because Britain is talking about banning all rape porn actual & depicted. I've avoided it for the most part as well but I think that's what sparked the fire.

And it originally involved erotic horror porn which is often made legally in the USA. After that, it initiated a shitstorm about whether the actors/actresses were actually consenting and over the soul of what Liberalism is all about. On one side, the individual libertarians arguing that consenting adults should be free to do what they like, on the other a Feminist take that porn is degrading to women and the participants are not actually freely consenting adults.

It's a talking past each other fight now.
