These discussions about porn are needlessly vitriolic

I think that very few people here are in favor of rape or child molestation.
I also think that DUers are, by nature, eager to explore issues to the fullest extent and often press the envelope of rhetoric in search of wider truths. It takes courage and sometime people misunderstand and sometimes we make mistakes. Sometimes we are validated, sometimes rebuked. It's how we learn. I think that most of us are here to do just that.
That why DU is so valuable to me.

When I feel insulted or put down or that a poster is being outrageous that is the time to ask the extra question and listen even more carefully. More often than not, I find that I learn something and make a new friend in the process.

the Hillary people get properly worked up along with whoever else is in the running.

We go there every four years and ignore lists grow like Topsy.

Porn is just a warmup.

There's a backstory to it all, but it's not a subject I want to get into at all. What is not said is more important than what is said in these threads, I'm afraid.

and not so subtly using it as if these kinds of elements make up the entire porn industry, instead of what it is, illegal activity.
