The problem is that we have too much laissez faire capitalism - while I'm generally pro capitalism, and this actually sounds pretty exciting technological idea - we as a society aren't really allowed to think about the employment displacement caused by this action.

4. How dare they try to improve the shopping experience by delivering items faster!

We need to ship out the packages the old-fashioned way

Think of how many manufacturing jobs we can create to produce the buggy whips!

On a serious note, if it ever happened, I'm not sure how much of an impact it would make. Can you imagine how many distribution centers they would need in order to deliver them in the time-frame they described?

Also, I don't think we are at the point where unmanned aerial drones are feasible in city environments, too much of a risk of crashing and lawsuits.

6. and a boon for people who steal packages

delivered while people are at work.

This happened with my new Samsung mobile phone. It was delivered to my son's home (it was his Mothers Day gift to me)

He specifically told Amazon to NOT deliver unless he was home.. and of course their driver just left it on the porch.. Before he could even know it had been stolen, someone racked up over $400 in phone calls (it was sent activated).

It took him 3 months and many hours to get it all settled..

and the kicker? I cannot figure it out I have made exactly 2 calls, and do not even remember the number.. The one call I received, I could not figure out how to answer it
