Catholics Join The Dump Rush Movement With Petition Denouncing Limbaugh
By: Jason Easley

After Rush Limbaugh attacked Pope Francis and called him a Marxist, the group Catholics In Alliance For The Common Good has started a petition denouncing Limbaugh.

Audio of Limbaugh @ link~

Limbaugh said, “I gotta be very careful. I have been numerous times to the Vatican. It wouldn’t exist without tons of money. But regardless, what this is, somebody has either written this for him or gotten to him. This is just pure Marxism coming out of the mouth of the pope. Unfettered capitalism? That doesn’t exist anywhere. Unfettered capitalism is a liberal socialist phrase to describe the United States. Unfettered, unregulated.”

The group Catholics in Alliance For The Common Good has responded with a petition that denounces Limbaugh and demands an apology.

The petition states,

We are disturbed by Rush Limbaugh’s incendiary comments last Wednesday, November 27th about Pope Francis and are joining together with Catholics and other allies throughout the nation to support the Holy Father. To call the Francis a proponent of “pure marxism” is both mean spirited and naive. Francis’s critique of unrestrained capitalism is in line with the Church’s social teaching. His particular criticism of “trickle down economics” strengthens what Church authorities have said for decades: any economic system which deprives the poor of their dignity has no place within a just society.

Contrary to what Mr. Limbaugh suggests, the Catholic Church isn’t built on money, but on the firm foundation of Jesus Christ.

We call on Mr. Limbaugh to apologize and retract his remarks. We urge other Church organizations and leaders–both ordained and lay–to also condemn Mr. Limbaugh’s comments.

We proudly stand with Pope Francis as he provides prophetic leadership for the Catholic Church and the entire world.

snip//

Manipulation of bigotry and hatred knows no limits when it comes to Rush Limbaugh’s personal financial gain, but the pressure is growing from all corners of our society to get the most listened to practitioner of hate speech in America off the air.

As more and more Americans wake up to the taxpayer funded offensiveness of Rush Limbaugh, the dump Rush movement will only grow stronger.

If you are a Catholic and would like to add your name to the petition, you can do so here.

What he said was, 'the Vatican...wouldn't exist without capitalism'. I heard him say it and confirmed it through Media Matters. I laughed at the time since Rush appeared not to know when capitalism came into existence (hint for Rush: 1800 years or so after the Catholic church).

The vatican is the center of a religion which would exist (and has existed) without capitalism,.so the vatican would exist without capitalism. It might have to change a bit, but that would likely be an improvement.

Rush has been re-instated to a local talk radio station after they dropped him 2 years ago. He came back in October. Very disappointing. They brought Hannity back, too, ass well as some nasty guy named Dick. I was disappointed as I had hoped the momentum would keep Rush away.

Maybe some pissed off Catholics will put a few nails in his career's coffin.

It's just Bill Donahue, and his FAX machine.
(So to speak.)

On rare occasions I agree with him, mostly not.

Apparently, he has commented on Limbaugh. Sort of...

After radio talk-show host Rush Limbaugh criticized Pope Francis for statements the pope made in his apostolic exhortation, “The Joy of the Gospel,” Christopher Hale of Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good attacked Limbaugh. CNN prominently carried the story. But the real story is that Catholics in Alliance is a bogus entity.

Catholics in Alliance is such a fraud that it has been stripped of its tax-exempt status by the IRS: for three consecutive years, it failed to file its 990. Prior to a few years ago, the group was funded by the likes of George Soros’ Open Society Institute, and the Tides Foundation (another Soros-funded institution). But once the IRS dropped the hammer on Catholics in Alliance, both of these foundations stopped funding it.

We called Catholics in Alliance today to find out what is going on, but there is no one there; callers must leave a message on an answering machine. That’s not the way real organizations work.

It is astounding to read on the website of Catholics in Alliance a plea for donations, saying, “Contributions are tax deductible.” Really? On what basis? The IRS doesn’t recognize them as a legitimate non-profit. Neither should the media.

Judge for yourselves.

I know that some of you think of the Catholic church as monolithic institution but it's not.

About Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good

Our Mission

Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good promotes public policies and effective programs that enhance the inherent dignity of all, especially the poor and most vulnerable. Our work is inspired by Gospel values and the rich history of Catholic social teaching as they inform pressing moral issues of our time. We accomplish our goals through public policy analysis and advocacy, strategic media outreach, and engaging citizens in the service of the common good.

Our Vision

We envision a society shaped by the values of justice, human dignity and the common good, where faithful American Catholics can embrace the fullness of the Church's social justice teachings when participating in democratic society.

As Catholics, we inherit a rich tradition whose inspiration reaches well beyond our own faith community. The papal encyclicals and letters that make up this tradition are based on Jesus' call to love one's neighbor and serve the least among us, and the Hebrew Scriptures' prophetic commitment to justice and righteousness.

According to Wikipedia. They closed their office in 2010 and let their paid staff go.
A little "googleing" shows they are a pretty socially progressive group.
