WorldNetDaily Ties Pope Francis To The KGB

Earlier this week, WorldNetDaily argued that Pope Francis’ criticism of capitalism is making Jesus Christ “weep in heaven.” Now, the conservative outlet is trying to use the new pope’s social justice teachings to tie him to the KGB. Of course, social justice has been a core teaching of the Roman Catholic Church — among other Christian denominations — since long before Francis became pope. In a column entitled “Communism and the Pope,” WND’s Ileana Johnson Paugh writes that she “traces Francis’ thinking to KGB-influence in S. America” and argues that social justice is not connected to the teachings of Jesus Christ but actually a “Soviet communist-led idea” that helped the KGB “infiltrate” the Catholic Church. -

The Latin American pope from Buenos Aires spoke for the masses that are still waiting for “social justice.” Yet the United States always pledges and helps when tragedy strikes; Americans give generously of their wealth, time and expertise. “Social justice” is an entirely different manufactured creature. According to Lt. Gen. Ion Pacepa, the Soviet communist-led idea of “social justice” was infiltrated successfully by the KGB into Latin America’s Catholic Church as a religious movement called “liberation theology.” The goal was to “incite Latin America’s poor to rebel against the ‘institutionalized violence of poverty’ generated by the United States.” (Lt. Gen. Ion Mihai Pacepa, “Disinformation,” WND Books, 2013) From the government’s point of view, what kind of “social justice” are the masses waiting for when pining for socialism and communism? They are waiting to vote again and again for the same individuals and socialist or communist governments that brought them to poverty and kept them perennially downtrodden. They are waiting for socialist governments to give them welfare and free minimal health care through Castro clinics while they stay home and procreate more dependents. They are waiting for the redistribution of wealth from productive citizens. They are enslaved to their governments that decide their daily lives, yet they are told their enslavement is the United States’ fault.

And like everything else they do, it will backfire on them with potentially catastrophic consequences for their party.

Conservative Roman Catholics will soon be forced to pick between the leader of their religion and their political party.

I know many of them won't side with a party that they already know deep down always hated Catholics.

Pope Frank is very likeable, and he is on the right side of the poverty/economic issues.
He is still on the wrong side of complete equality and human rights for women and gays though.

... Jesus told him, “If you want to be perfect, go now and sell your property and give the money away to the poor—you will have riches in Heaven. Then come and follow me!” When the young man heard that he turned away crestfallen, for he was very wealthy. Then Jesus remarked to his disciples, “Believe me, a rich man will find it very difficult to enter the kingdom of Heaven. Yes, I repeat, a camel could more easily squeeze through the eye of a needle than a rich man get into the kingdom of God!” ...
Matthew 19:21ff

... “There is one thing you still want. Go and sell everything you have, give the money away to the poor—you will have riches in Heaven. And then come back and follow me.” At these words his face fell and he went away in deep distress, for he was very rich. Then Jesus looked round at them all, and said to his disciples, “How difficult it is for those who have great possessions to enter the kingdom of God!” The disciples were staggered at these words, but Jesus continued, “Children, you don’t know how hard it can be to get into the kingdom of Heaven. Why, a camel could more easily squeeze through the eye of a needle than a rich man get into the kingdom of God” ...
Mark 10:21ff

... “There is still one thing you have missed. Sell everything you possess and give the money away to the poor, and you will have riches in Heaven. Then come and follow me.” But when he heard this, he was greatly distressed for he was very rich. And when Jesus saw how his face fell, he remarked, “How difficult it is for those who have great possessions to enter the kingdom of God! A camel could squeeze through the eye of a needle more easily than a rich man could get into the kingdom of God” ...

What Jesus was referring to was not a sewing needle but an entrance in the wall surrounding the city that was called the eye of a needle because of the difficulty of a camel being able to pass through it due to it size.

what Jesus was really referring to. I've recently heard this "eye of a needle" being a place and not a concept.
It gives way to the idea that a rich person can indeed enter the Kingdom of Heaven. He/she would just have to push really hard.

It seems there is no archaeological evidence that such a place existed.

There has never been any reference in the literature of the time mentioning it or alluding to it. The story of the "gate" or "entrance" seems to be one that was mentioned briefly in some texts in the 15th century that were then quoted by scholars in the early 20th century. The idea appealed to many Christian clergy, especially as time went on, to those advocating a prosperity gospel. But, antiquities scholars have never found any such description concerning a portal in a city wall and camels.

I relied on the expertise of the professor when I was taking a course in the Bible. Upon further examination it certainly appears there are several interpretations of the passage concerning the possibility of error in the translation into Greek. It appears that it was indeed a latter interpretation. Thanks for the information.

There is not a shred of evidence that there was an entrance to the wall known as the "eye of a needle." That explanation is a hoax cooked up by some pro-rich clergy

That is used by right wingers to justify their wealth and greed....and they usually follow it with "the camel has to get down on it's knees to pass through"...thus implying that all you have to do is go to church and pray.
I have heard it all before.

But no Jesus meant it just as it sounds, and he often used hyperbole to make his point...he did so in many of his parables.
