Years ago I was exposed to a book about 'how the decade we were born in shaped us or our thinking'. I believe it was written or was based on research by a teacher out of the University of Colorado - but I can't be sure - as this was many years ago.
I was wondering if anyone here on DU remembers this or can direct me to that research again as I would like to re-read this and see if this research was kept up all the way through present days.
As I recall it went through each decade and detailed significant events that happened in that decade and how those impacted on how the people born in that decade carried on their lives because of those events - let's say the 30's (the depression), the 40's (the war), the 50's (the after war boom), the 60's, the 70's, etc - you get the idea.
Now that I think about it - it might not have been a book - it could have been a film.
Anyway - I was wondering if this was being kept up to date to present time.
Any help would be appreciated.

(11,804 posts)Because it seems like most studies like this focus more on specific generations - Boomers, Gen X, Millenials and so on.

(29,067 posts)the era in which one was born makes one of, if not THE biggest impact on one's life.
That being said, he's written a few books, and I don't know in which of them he makes this point...If you go to Amazon.com,
and type in his name, you may find reviews which reveal it.

(25,248 posts)It's been a long time since I first was exposed to this - back in college - that I may have gotten it wrong. It's just that some of the recent posts here on DU with respect to Baby Boomers and Millenials have made me think about this and I would like to read it again and see if it was continued to present day.
Again - I believe the author was on faculty at the University of Colorado - but don't remember for sure. Was hoping someone here on DU would know.
