https://dailykos.com/campaigns/591Wall Street Dems know populists like Elizabeth Warren are gaining influence with the Democratic base. Horrified, these Dems have launched an attack throughout corporate media that threatens electoral doom for the Democratic Party if it dares stand up to Wall Street.
So far we've seen:
--A Third Way op-ed in the Wall Street Journal warning Democrats of the "danger" Elizabeth Warren and Bill DeBlasio style economic populism
--Fox News "Democrats" Doug Schoen and Pat Caddell back in Politico for another stab at that whole "radical center" nonsense.
--The DLC's Al From is back in the news with a new book.
All of this, all at once? It's a coordinated counterattack by Wall Street Democrats spooked by the party's embrace of politicians like Elizabeth Warren, Sherrod Brown, Tammy Baldwin and Jeff Merkley.
They should be spooked. The future of the Democratic Party is a populist one, all that's left is to whittle out the dead weight.
Sign the petition to let Wall Street Democrats know where you stand: I come from the Elizabeth Warren wing of the Democratic Party.
Petition Text
Our Message to Third Way, the DLC and Wall Street Democrats:
Good to know you are scared of the rise of populists in the Democratic Party. You should be. The future of the Democratic Party is a populist one, all that's left is to whittle out the dead weight.

(34,589 posts)A sudden and huge number of posts on DU belittling anyone who wants Sen. Warren to run for President.
Whether it's the unbelievably-well-funded Third Way crowd, or earnest individuals on DU, it will fail. America needs FDR Democrats to pull us from disaster once again, and Sen. Warren is in the vanguard.

and to wake up!
Thank you for the post. I have been bating the naysayers all week.
They just won't listen or see the wave coming.
It's going to be like a tsunami if EW throws her hat in.
I don't think the RW will be able to stop us. If she is going to
run, announce it in 2014 so we will see a rush to the polls to be
sure she has a House and Senate to back her and her progressive
agenda for the next 8 years..

(961 posts)What is there to be scared about?
William Cecil, the guy who owns the Biltmore House and Estate and a good friend of mine, is a big donor to the Democratic Party. Who do you think the party leader's are more likely to listen to; you (or even a group of you) or him?
Warrens speech serves a purpose, and that's all it does. Let me explain it to you the way Bill Cecil would if he were here. You have a role to play as a member of the party. The big money contributors will decide who gets to make the grade, the candidate can say whatever populist rhetoric they need to say to get you to vote for them, you vote, then STFU because you're done. If you don't understand your role, then get the hell out of the party.
But that's Bill. I'm much more polite.
Just vote for the Democratic candidate. It'll be handled from there.
Take it either way. The ending is the same.

(961 posts)Bill gets what he wants or the money dries up. Lots of others just like him. Lots.
If Warren is serious (which I doubt), then she'll have the ways of the world explained to her, and she'll abide. Senator Schumer (and others) has a way with words.
Candidates either play correctly or they get disappeared. The choice is theirs up to the point they chooses incorrectly, then their ability to choose ends.
You'll see.

Think Warren will shut her mouth?
Think again.
The 99% have a beach head now, and more actual Democrats are being elected every day. Even a Socialist in Seattle! Short of unlawful violence instigated by our afflictors, we will win.

(490 posts)That's a big step right there. Plus Liz has some big funding right here in Mass. Not Wall Street size but enough to keep her independent and doing her own thing in the Senate.

(34,589 posts)IIRC.
Almost all from small donors.

(490 posts)Senator Warren does have some big Mass. devotees. My former boss is one. I signed heavy duty non-disclosure agreements before I left so I can't just come out and say who but I can guarantee you, my former boss is no big fan of Wall Street.

(34,589 posts)I suspect that Americans have had enough of the Liar Populists you seem to be so proud of. This time, instead, we'll vote for an actual Democrat.
If the Predator Class wasn't so afraid of Warren, we wouldn't be seeing these attacks. They don't go after others like this.
Game on.

(39,343 posts)That's all any of these petitions are. They change nothing, but they open you to solicitations for donations. I'm not saying it's a horrible thing to give, but these are thinly veiled attempts to get money and email addresses and little else.
I also put this special little message in the comment section... "I hope Senator Warren and those like her keep kicking over the rocks you've been hiding under."

(2,949 posts)it was probably in 2003 but may have been in 1999. Presidential debate, Ralph Nader said "I am from the Democratic wing of the Democratic party."
However, i did sign petition to third way asking for divulging the names of donors. Just a few things to muse over in the upcoming turmoil.
