(50,557 posts)In 1951 we were still recovering from World War II, the top song in America was by Nat King Cole and looking like this said "reliable breadwinner and good husband who won't stop off at the bar and grill on the way home from work, ever" to the women out there.
Oh, and this was the most popular style for the ladies then:

(50,557 posts)I don't know if they called them that in the 1950s because in that era when a song got popular many artists recorded versions of it.
I needed a Tony Bennett CD for a project I did earlier this year (scanning all my grandfather's slides and making a video out of them), and got a Greatest Hits CD set. Almost all those songs are on it.
