(75,480 posts)it's telling you that you need the adobe flash player to see it. If you want to see the video then you need to download it.

(642 posts)I was getting the Adobe Flash Player installer pop up as if I needed to upgrade to the lastest version. I did allow it to install and
have the latest version but it kept happening. I made it stop by doing the follow in Internet Explorer
Got to the Tools menu and choose -> Manage Addons.
Locate "Shockwave Flash Object" and right click to disable.
This is workaround I suppose. I haven't determined why it is happening. I've been on the internet for a few days and haven't noticed the lack of this add on.

(88,117 posts)But it doesn't seem to matter. I have the latest Adobe player, but I still get the error message.
Sometimes I have to switch to IE and then it quits.

(51,122 posts)Both you and the OP don't have stars.
DURHAM D
(32,611 posts)don't think that is the issue.
otoh - I do need to get my star back but have not gotten around to it because DU has not been busy the past few days and I don't need to use Advanced Search or any other missing features.

(4,112 posts)Download and install the latest version of the flash player. If you're using Firefox, you can go to your plugin manager page to do that. Close your browser. Restart your computer. Launch your browser. That fixed it for me with no further recurrence.

(15,262 posts)There have been some malwares ceated using these pop-up windows from Adobe, esp. for Macs even.
NEVER update your computer using a pop-up window.

(2,834 posts)You can try turning off the updates
Go to YouTube
Find any Youtube video and right click on it.
Left click "Global Settings"
That will open Flash Player Settings Manager
Choose the Advanced tab
Left click "Change Update Settings"
Click on "Never Check for Updates"
Close box
I have no way to know if that works. Could you try it and let me know? I don't use IE but I did open it and clicked around DU but I haven't had an issue yet.
You would then have to manually check for updates.

(2,834 posts)In IE go up to "Safety" by your address bar and click on it. Make sure there is no mark next to ActiveX filtering. That hopefully will fix it. Thanks to DUer packman. Let us know if that worked.
