Romney likes hugs from 12 year old girls

I'm not at all suggesting that he committed any inappropriate behavior, but Mitt Romney's words to an Alabama crowd of supporters today again displays his awkwardness and his inability to know what to say to a crowd of ordinary people. Probably thinking he was exhibiting a bit of southern charm, he made a request for hugs from female supporters including 12 year olds.

"...Although he didn’t mention grits or his growing like of the word “y’all,” Romney’s awkward bid to connect to Southern voters was still evident. He wished the crowd a “fine Alabama good mornin’’” — dropping the letter “g” at the end of some words.

Before setting off to shake hands inside the restaurant, he urged supporters to embrace him — though only those of the female gender.

“Please give us a big hug, that’s the girls,” Romney said. He added, “I’ve been getting hugs from the Southern girls…from 12, to well, a lot more than 12.” ..."
