Bonnie And Clyde slammed for historical inaccuracies

Bonnie And Clyde slammed for historical inaccuracies after rewriting the femme fatale as the mastermind behind their robbing and killing spree

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2520806/Bonnie-And-Clyde-miniseries-slammed-historical-inaccuracies.html

Give me a break. This is the History Channel - when was the last time the History Channel had anything to do with actual history?

6. I enjoyed Hatfields and McCoys-- I do think Costner tried for as much accuracy as possible...

Frankly I haven't watched more than five minutes of Bonnie and Clyde, but that ugly snarl: "don't mess with Bonnie and Clyde! was just enough to put me off of it--likely permanently, unless there is simply nothing else and I have insomnia some time soon.

They usually say more about the generation in which they're made than they do about the era they're emulating. Even the best ones are anachronistic. It just takes us a generation to notice it.

The worst ones are, well, worse.

I don't see why this would be an exception.

10. TV "historical" programs need to be taken with a grain of salt.

They're RARELY historically accurate and can be downright vomit-inducing in some cases. I was looking over the Biography full episodes section on Hulu and came across one on "Catherine the Great." Seeing as how I think she is one of the most interesting historical figures, male or female, I thought it was a good choice. WRONG! I got through about 3 minutes of it and turned it off. They obsessed about her "sexual exploits" and "sexual appetites." I just kept thinking, ! What the HELL does this have to do with ruling Russia, an incredibly complex country with dozens and dozens of factions? An IMMENSELY fascinating life and person and they whittled it down to "sexual exploits." I don't think I've watched a Biography since.

Clyde Barrow really did play saxophone. They found a c melody silver sax in the death car with lots of sheet music.

Bonnie and Clydes biggest crime was refusing to accept that they weren't supposed to live.

And I suspect bringing them up in todays economic reality is making some corporatists nervous.

80 years later, and you don't even have to use their last names, and everyone automatically knows who you mean. Pretty damn remarkable.

We need to glorify crime and guns even more because we just don't have enough shootings in this country.

The writers' theory is that Clyde, knowing they were doomed, orchestrated the ambush so that he and Bonnie could go out in a blaze of glory, and she could have the fame she always wanted.Do some historians actually think that is a possibility?
