http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2012/03/12/santorum-it-should-be-illegal-to-read-off-a-teleprompter/In Rick Santorums perspective, no presidential candidate should ever be allowed to use a teleprompter on the campaign trail.
The former Pennsylvania senator expressed his unorthodox view in his latest attack of the speech reading device Sunday afternoon, according to CNN. While campaigning at a restaurant in Gulfport, Mississippi, Santorum questioned the authenticity of any candidate using a teleprompter.

(13,873 posts)We would have never known a word of what George Bush was saying. He was barely comprehensible with the teleprompter.

(39,961 posts)we'll hear that it should be illegal for people to learn to read rather than have their "betters" interpret for them. The Catholic Church held that position for centuries and we all know how well that worked out for the people.

It's not whether or not you use a teleprompter, but HOW you use it.

(1,484 posts)You have to keep in mind the location and the intellectual capacity of his audience. If he was speaking in say, Boston, he is smart enough to know that he would have been laughed off the stage if he had tried to say anything like that. I think they call that pandering to the electorate, or stooping down to their level, rather than trying to earn their votes by elevating them to yours. But that's OK. He is destined to become a loser, and irregardless of how contrived and insincere his message is, he is still too dumb to realize it. I love to watch people with huge egos. Pass the popcorn please. Do you like butter on yours?

(15,189 posts)What they should do is have each candidate write an essay describing CORRECT American History events, the meaning of laws, and mathematics. We would have NO Repukes to vote for in 2012.

(54,256 posts)Does anyone realize how many cue card holders have been put out of work by Teleprompters?
Families plunged into poverty?
And just HOW MUCH has this cost American taxpayers for food stamps, Medicaid, unemployment payouts?
And what has the toll been in broken homes and homeless families?
Cue card holder used to be a respected career.
Live television performers couldn't survive without them.
And then along comes the Teleprompter.
Damn.
You GO, Rick!
