Orlando attorney Mark O'Mara, who took on George Zimmerman as a client in one of the nation's most racially-charged and high-profile murder trials and won his acquittal, is now the subject of an ethics complaint for how he handled the case.
Few details are available, including who filed the complaint and what allegations O'Mara is facing, but the Florida Bar today confirmed that its staff is investigating a complaint and has made no determination as to whether it's one for which O'Mara should face possible discipline.
O'Mara could not immediately be reached for comment.
It's become clear over the past several months that his relationship with Zimmerman has soured and O'Mara has worked to distance himself publicly from the former Neighborhood Watch volunteer.

(89,262 posts)maybe zimmerman was hoping o'mara wouldn't charge much or anything .
does anyone know if o'mara still has the CNN job ? i remember he was hired shortly after the trial and they had him on a few times to comment on various cases but i haven't seen him for some time.
maybe o'mara isn't cashing in as he had hoped to . and maybe he was not going to charge zimmerman if he was able to.

(12,151 posts)O'Mara discovered a short time later that Zimmerman and family members had created a legal defense fund, one that would eventually generate more than $400,000 in donations, money that now appears to have all been spent.
That, and as I recall, in the next-to-last police incident, O'Mara had already made a public comment that Zimmerman was sitting in his driveway after an argument with his wife, with his hand on his gun, "like any responsible gun owner" or some such nonsense, after which the gun could not be found in the car or on Zimmerman's person.
If you hire someone to spin for you, don't turn around and undercut the whole story and make them look stupid.
