Another health insurance post
I think I posted earlier to the effect that I finally completed my ACA sign-up. Premium savings minimal, but deductible lower and total potential out of pocket much lower than currently. Oh, yeah, where I was previously denied insurance, now I wasn't. Minor little detail. In this regard, I can't wait for those congresspeople who refused to sign up on principle to have real medical bills that aren't covered. But I digress.
One of our concerns was that some of our doctors are no longer in network. Not good. So my SO contacted the state insurance office and found out that one can request an out of network referral is there's already a doctor treating and that switching doctors would be detrimental to continued health care. Live and learn. But this is one of the first things we'll do once we get our insurance cards.
And for those still moaning that the ACA is a scheme previously endorsed by republicans, it's time to get over it. Yes, Medicare for all makes the most sense. But that didn't happen. Maybe in the future things will move in that direction. but for now let's take advantage of what is available, make the best of it, improve it where possible, and maybe, just maybe, get health care costs under control.
