and one of things you just HAVE to stop for.

I did, however, put Christmas decorations on a fake ficus I had in my apartment. Since I'm from the land of Christmas decorations on palm trees and fake snow, it didn't appear too odd to me. Looking back, I can see someone from snowier climes might have thought it a bit strange.

Thanks for including that picture. Now I'm going to have to look for pictures of decorations on Earthships(tm).

Seeing some of those folks interviewed from the most recent MM -- those out in the pouring rain -- warmed my heart. It won't be easy, but sanity WILL be restored!

If so, I'm glad you're enjoying it! I'm definitely partial to the St. Olaf Choir, and the Tallis Scholars. Heard The Wexford Carol with Alison Krauss and Yo-Yo Ma earlier -- quite lovely.

and yes, let us make a big difference in 2014!

We used to get them at the office but didn't get any this year. They are so good you can eat them like potato chips! Deadly good.

MOST VALUABLE PROTEST: Mountain Moral Monday

When up to 10,000 North Carolinians rallied August 5 on Mountain Moral Monday in Asheville, the Rev. William Barber II, president of the state NAACP, announced: “This is no momentary hyperventilation and liberal screaming match. This is a movement.” The protests against legislative attacks on voting rights, public education and programs for low-income families began last spring at the state Capitol in Raleigh. But when the GOP-controlled legislature adjourned, the massive rally in Asheville signaled that the movement had spread. Barber declared that “from the mountains to the coast,” there is a movement for “a new South, a new North Carolina and a new future.”
