1.3 million losing unemployment benefits Saturday

AP foreign, Friday December 27 2013

BRADLEY KLAPPER

Associated Press= WASHINGTON (AP) — More than 1 million Americans are bracing for a harrowing, post-Christmas jolt as federal unemployment benefits come to a sudden halt this weekend.

The development entails potentially significant implications for the recovering U.S. economy and sets up a tense battle when Congress reconvenes in the new year.

For families dependent on cash assistance, the end of the federal government's "emergency unemployment compensation" will mean some difficult belt-tightening as enrollees lose their average monthly stipend of $1,166.

Belt-tightening is when you're ON unemployment and looking for work -- drop cable, no dinners out, scraping by to pay housing, food, utilities, etc. No unemployment will be a fight for survival.

Will you wonder why former democrats don't show up in 2014? Is any politician running with the promise of doing something about offshoring of good paying US jobs or on creating more jobs through stimulus or jobs programs?

And there was nothing in it requiring that purchases and labor for projects must be from American made goods and labor.

I'm so disgusted with everyone in Washington. Nothing will change until the people are forced to revolt to survive. Nothing will change because the people who can change the laws are the ones benefiting from kissing the asses of the 1#. They won't bite the hands that feed them and the voters are to fucking ignorant to vote for change.

Does anyone think they will care now after Christmas. They know November is long ways off with a short term memory audience. The media is just playing up the drama for Obama to fail getting anything done on this.

I was laid off in May, so my first 6 months expired in the middle of Dec. I received all of two weeks of Federal extension benefit. Now I'm on retirement savings 12 years early.

FUCK the GOP and the 1%

You're in trouble.
Do you have any plans on what to do?
I feel for you because when I became disabled, SS turned me down after the 1st. year, and we lost my business, vehicles, home, everything we owned and lived in a conversion van til my attorney finally obtained my dis benefit almost 2 years afterwards.

It's too bad I didn't have affordable healthcare back in '04, because all the money SS owed me for waiting was sent to pay my doctor and hospital bills, so I still ended up being flat broke, living off our EBT card.
