I have always liked Trumad, despite all the insults he has thrown my and others way. He is a cool dude.

He's like that guy you know that always comes off as an ass, but you know damned well he's got a good heart and would help out you, your friend, your neighbor and a stranger without a second thought.

I don't need to agree with someone 100% of the time to like them. If I did, I would never have made it to my second post on DU.

I DO hope the farewell is reconsidered.

Being able to listen to another person. Even if you feel defensive, it's worth practicing stopping one's own reactions long enough to let yourself imagine how someone else feels.

That's really where the disconnect happens.

When I considered departing a while back, Mr. T convinced me to stay ......to try posting less, but to continue to be part of the DU community. And I've done that, although I find DU far less interesting, and of far, far less value in recent times.

This happens in online communities, I think, where it starts off great and then the trolls come sniffing around. If the trolls find a way to dominate, the conversation goes to heck in a handbasket, and the regulars are left scratching their heads and wondering what happened.

Trumad's a good one, as are you. I find that I post and reply far less here than I used to (partly due to time issues with my new job and partly because I just don't care about 99% of the crap here), and we've lost good posters. I hope DU can turn around, but I doubt it.

Yes, the jury system works sometimes. It doesn't work well all too often. The brighter and more energetic trolls know this. Yes, moderation had its pitfalls but the site was more civil and productive overall. I remember those days fondly.
