You sure manage to jump into Snowden threads almost as soon as the are posted. How do you do that?

(62,325 posts)to expose these Bush policies, and a decade at least for us to fully understand why the lack of will in the Dem Party, seemingly, to stop them?
In the scheme of things a decade probably isn't that long, but it felt that way.
I feel that there are big changes coming, they have to and Greenwald, Snowden and all the other Whistle Blowers, we should not forget them, deserve a huge thank you from this country and as much support as we can give them. They are very courageous people.
And Chesea Manning. I hope in the not too distant future she will be free and recognized as the hero she is. Binney too and all the others who tried to warn us.

(9,656 posts)In A Power Governments Cannot Suppress Zinn observed:
It is easy to be overwhelmed or intimidated by the realization that the war makers have enormous power. But some historical perspective can be useful, because it tells us that at certain points in history governments find that all their power is futile against the power of an aroused citizenry.
There is a basic weakness in governments, however massive their armies, however vast their wealth, however they control images and information, because their power depends on the obedience of citizens...When the citizens begin to suspect they have been deceived and withdraw their support, government loses its legitimacy and its power.
We have seen this happen in recent decades all around the globe. Awaking one morning to see a million angry people in the streets of the capital city, the leaders of a country begin packing their bags and calling for a helicopter.
If we the people were so powerless, why would the elites go to so much trouble concealing the content of these so-called "free trade" negotiations?

(55,981 posts)wonderful, all inclusive programs to catch terrorists, how did Snowden get away with so much data? Dont they compartmentalize? Dont they have programs to spy on their own people? Didnt his supervisor ever wonder what he was doing? Just how safe is the data that Booz-Allen has access to?
George II

(55,981 posts)And apparently we cant convince those in Europe that the data isnt real. Sen Wyden and Sen Udall think the data is real, as they've seen the evidence.
Dont you think it's real?

High cost to themselves? Greenwald is basking in the sun in Brazil making hundreds of thousands of dollars and Snowden is living off the Russian government.
